KEYNOTE SPEAKER / TONY HERNANDEZ

s Tony currently is the President and CEO of Innovative Action Consulting Services, a community, housing and economic development consulting firm that supports nonprofit, private company and government efforts to build viable communities. Before founding Innovation Action Consulting Services, Tony served as an Administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Housing Services (RHS). There he led and managed the administration of RHS’s $28.7 billion annual budget to support Multifamily, Single Family and Community Facilities development programs designed to help rural America by providing financing through loans and grants for single family homes, apartments for low-income persons or the elderly, housing for farm workers, child care centers, fire and police stations, hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, schools, and much, much more. Prior to RHS, Tony was the Director of Colorado’s Division of Local Government within the Colorado Department of Local Affairs in which he managed community development programs for rural communities. Additionally, Tony was a business planner and senior marketing representative for the IBM Corporation while simultaneously serving as a Colorado State Representative, an appointment he held for nine and a half years and was recognized as Colorado Legislator of Year in 1989 for his successful efforts in Economic Development. Tony holds a Master’s Degree in Management and Public policy from Carnegie-Mellon, as well as a Master’s Degree in Community Organizing and Social Planning from University of Denver, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Colorado State University. Tony’s 26 plus years of experience in housing, community and economic development, business strategic planning, sales, marketing, business advocacy, policy development, legislative and government relations makes him the perfect thought leader to lead our discussion around Denver’s low inventory crisis and how we can strengthen the building, lending, and real estate ecosystem.

The Colorado New Construction Summit is proud to present as our Realtor® Speaker, Michael Beninati. Michael is the Owner and Managing Partner of Windermere Metro Denver Real Estate. Michael has over 13 years of real estate market experience and is a member of the Builder Realty Council, Denver Metro Association of Realtors®, the Construction Resource Group, as well as the Home Builders Foundation. Along with managing a number of List Assist Program’s and Denver Infill Projects with various builders and Windermere’s Builder Solutions Program, he is currently working with Montano Homes in South East Aurora on a 48 Unit project. Michael’s commitment to the builder community is long running. He served on the Committee w/REColorado to allow Home Builders Access to the MLS, was the Builder Realty Council’s Annual Builder Breakfast Chair for a number of years, and was a Board Member of the HBA’s Sales & Marketing Council. He earned his Short Sale/Foreclosure Certification through the National Association of Realtors®. In 2011, Michael continued to expand his knowledge and value proposition by earning his Registered Appraiser’s License. Combining elite experience with luxury support, Windermere Metro Denver Real Estate takes a different approach to real estate, one that is built on personal touches, win-win deals, and positive results. Together, the Colorado Windermere team has closed over 250+ New Homes and worked with the NE Denver Housing Council on the Stapleton Townhome Project.

Mr. Foy is a Co-Owner of BLVDway Communities where he is responsible for land acquisition and entitlements as well as legal matters. Prior to founding BLVDway, Mr. Foy worked as a real estate and construction attorney in Denver representing homebuilders, condominium developers, and contractors. Mr. Foy is active with the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver where he sits on the Board of Directors and is chair of the Government Affairs Committee.

Jason Brown is one of the founders of Ascent Builders, which he was inspired to create because of a longtime passion for building and construction. Having spent a number of years in management roles with worldwide organizations, Jason applies his business and strategic leadership skills to Ascent and offers clients a unique background not commonly found in the industry.

Patrick Brayton is a Managing Director with Fortis Private Bank and he makes the seemingly complicated process of construction finance an easy experience for not only first time clients but also seasoned developers. Patrick joined Fortis Private Bank in 2013 and he manages a team of bankers in downtown Denver who are specialized in complex commercial credits, corporate finance, and construction lending.

Colby Popplewell / Finance of America
Colby Popplewell structures long-term loans for non-owner occupied rental properties, fix & flip financing, and new construction financing for real estate investors and brokers. Colby brings a total of 20 years of mortgage experience to his role. Prior to joining Finance of America Commercial, Colby worked in residential lending at IndyMac Bank, where he was a top producer for five years.

Christian Durland has been in the mortgage lending industry as a Loan Officer since 2002. Christian and his team close multiple construction loans each month, and are proud to say that Northpointe Bank have some of the most consumer friendly construction loans in the marketplace. Christian is also a proud recipient of 5280 Magazine’s Five Star Mortgage Professional Award for 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
